Here are some more samples of the kinds of analysis that can be done with the amazing FEDA software package.

This map of Vancouver Quadra shows another way of demonstrating growth between elections. In this map, the size of the circle indicates the approimate number of votes (after compensating for voter turnout) that have been gained (green circles) or lost (red circles) for the Liberal party. As you can see, in most ridings, the gain or loss in not consistent across the riding, and this information is invaluable to selecting areas to recover lost voters, or emphasize trends.

This analysis is particularly powerful when combined with FEDA's list management feature. With these lists, you can section the riding into different kinds of polls, urban/rural, levels of affluence, demographic differences, etc. You can also use FEDA to analyse the effectiveness of literature distribution and other neighbourhood initiatives by combining the polls based on the communication program and control groups.

The above map of St. Pauls in Toronto shows the size of the swing vote in each poll. That is, the number of votes (corrected for turnout) which changed from one party to another in each poll. Note: this calculation is based on the total losses for all parties and the total gains for all parties in each poll. You would be well advised to spend more time in the areas where the swing is likely to occur.

In all of the maps, you can click on any poll at any time to get the snapshot summary of the poll. Here we see London West poll 28, and the results from the 2006 election, and the changes from 2004. You can set up your preferred party, which in this example is Liberal, and you would see the vote totals, rank and category of the poll for that party.
